Course description:

Fieldwork in forestry, fisheries and wildlife management often involves mathematics and statistics. This course presents basic techniques and exercises related to descriptive and inferential statistics. Data collection, organization, summarization, and presentation are emphasized throughout the course. Fundamental concepts of statistical application, analysis and interpretation, including sampling, experimentation, variability, distribution, association, causation, estimation, confidence, hypothesis testing, and significance, will be used to draw conclusions from data sets. Full statistical analysis using calculators, statistical software, databases, and graphing technologies will be required in many of the applications.
