Elements of Instruction

This course is an introduction to teaching and learning for instructors new to a post-secondary, adult education context. Learners are discipline specific experts who are or will be transitioning to an instructional role. This course extends themes and topics introduced in the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW, GEN0042); i.e. lesson planning, participatory learning, giving and receiving feedback, instructor professionalism and ethics, and class management. The course is designed to be experiential, peer-based and reflective. This is the first course in the Certificate in Adult Education program and lays the foundation for all other courses.

Please note – new this year, completion of an Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) is a pre-requisite for entry into the Certificate in Adult Education program. Contact Karen Horn for information about registering in an ISW at Aurora College.
