This course provides instruction on the procedures and code requirements for installation of fuel oil storage tanks and transmission lines.
733-103 – Fuel Units, Nozzles and Filters

This course provides an introduction to the types and functions of fuel units, nozzles and fuel filters. It also provides instruction on the installation, service and testing procedures of these components.
733-104 – Theory of Combustion/Efficiency Testing

This course provides an introduction to the theory of combustion, combustion chambers, and combustion testing equipment, the instruction on combustion analyzing and combustion chamber maintenance and installation. It also provides instruction on the code requirements for the use of testing equipment for commissioning and service.

This course provides an introduction to the theory of basic electricity, electrical circuitry, Ohm’s Law, principles of electromagnetism, principles of transformers, and electrical circuitry. It introduces students to wiring diagrams, switches, transformers, low voltage and line voltage conductors, relay circuitry, electrical test meters and circuitry testing.
733-107 – Interpret Schematics/Wiring Diagrams and Replace Controls

This course provides instruction on identifying the schematic operational function of controls within a heating system and identifying controls of similar function for replacement. It also provides an introduction to the wiring of heating systems and the code requirements pertaining to the function and testing of heating controls.
733-108 – Controls – Thermostats, Limit Controls, Primary Controls

This course provides an introduction to heat related science as it pertains to the function of controls, the service and function of thermostats, operating and limit controls, and primary relays. It also focuses on the code requirements of such controls as they pertain to operational requirements and testing.

This course provides an introduction to the operation of warm air, hot water, steam and radiant heating systems and the trim components required for each system.
733-110 – Oil Burners
(38hrs, non-credit)
This course provides an introduction to the various types of burners including vaporizing, high pressure atomizing – conventional and flame retention, and low pressure air atomizing and their methods of providing combustion. It also provides an introduction to the selection of correct burner for the application, the burner components, including motor, transformer, fuel units, ignition and air delivery.
